Miriam Krell Bourke, Esq.

She / Her / Hers
GIVS Legal Coordinator, Attorney, Mediator & Parent

Miriam began practicing law in 1993 and, in 2004, opened her family law and mediation practice with offices in Northampton and Greenfield. She believes in less adversarial methods of alternative dispute intervention, and focused her practice on neutral mediation, collaborative law, negotiation, consultation and civil approaches to family law advocacy. She also spent many years supporting and representing LGBTQ+ clients in divorces, parenting cases, guardianships, name changes, and other family matters. Most recently and since its inception, Miriam has been involved in the development of the problem-solving Family Resolutions Specialty Court (FRSC) in Hampshire, serving on its advisory board and in various capacities including attorney representing parent and child clients, neutral mediator, and team coordinator. In June 2022, she closed her private practice to become Specialty Court’s first Legal Coordinator.

Miriam coordinates GIVS Legal, which provides lawyer and advocate referrals for name changes and gender marker corrections for identification purposes. She shares educational opportunities for local lawyers to better serve our clients and the community.

Miriam and her husband Andrew (GIVS co-founder and psychologist) live in Northampton, Massachusetts, sometimes with their daughter Ilana who serves as GIVS social media coordinator. Miriam and Andrew had a 20-year-old daughter Ariel who died, by suicide, on April 14, 2020.  (Her In Memoriam page can be found here.)
